About this tea

Our high-quality, hand-picked Hunan High Mountain Mao Feng teas are carefully processed from the initial spring harvest to the final drying. Unlike traditional low-bitterness green teas, this selection is processed using young, delicate pan-fired leaves and buds, giving it a rich profile characterized by a rich, roasted umami flavor, sweet savory notes, and subtle floral tones. We have several Hunan green teas available.

Mao Feng tea was originally most famous from the Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) area in Anhui province, but in recent years, the Mao Feng processing style which highlights a delicate “one bud, one leaf” pluck has become highly celebrated in Hunan. Hunan High Mountain Mao Feng is grown at high altitudes (roughly 1,230 metres) in pristine, misty mountain environments.

Because it is crafted from tender early-spring growth, it delivers a rich, sweet, and savory aroma yielding a golden-green brew with a gentle grassy flavor followed by a silky finish.

It is said that green tea processing in Hunan has deep historical roots connected to the region’s ancient, mineral-rich mountain terrains. While the province is famous for a variety of traditional styles, its high-altitude spring green teas have gained a dedicated following among enthusiasts who appreciate the clean clarity and roasted sweet complexity of Hunan’s high mountain environment.
