Rose Damas – Premium

Rose Damas originated from the Middle East. It has been planted in the northwestern Chinese province of Xinjiang for several centuries. It is grown on the edge of the Xinjiang desert and at the foot of Tianshan Mountain. It benefits from the snow and ice melting during the warm season. The rose is irrigated by the melting water. Growing conditions are very natural, and in a natural ecological system, there are minimal pests. So there is no necessity for pesticide use. The Rose Damas from Xinjiang is very clean and pure and EU pesticide compliant

Unlike the more common species of rose, Rose Damas is purple in colour. (Most rose species  are pink in colour.) Rose Damas is also bigger in size and has a much stronger aroma. An excellent herbal tisane of choice.

About this tea

The organic desert rose is harvested at the beginning of June. Rose Damas (Damask Rose) is the rose grown in the Chinese Xinjiang Taklimakan Desert. It is one of the best quality roses in the world. The cultivar originated from West Asia and was introduced to China thousands of years ago through the ancient Silk Road. In the South Xinjiang desert area, the special weather, soil conditions, and highland geological surroundings make the rose grow very well, and the quality is very outstanding here. The rose is plump and appears a unique purple-red colour. It has a very strong rose fragrance!

The rose garden is at the edge of the Taklimakan Desert, in the oasis of Hetian, South Xinjiang

The garden conforms to organic farming. It is at the end of May. The roses grow very well here due to the sandy soil and suitable weather for rose growing.

The roses are harvested at the beginning of June. The garden is owned by local Uyghur people.

Rose damas

The reason why it can be naturally dried is that here it has a special desert climate, with very dry and very sunny. Most of the fragrance of rose is preserved through natural drying. (Drying in a roasting oven needs a much higher temperature than natural drying, which makes the flower lose a lot of fragrance).

The dry rose is plump and has a fascinating rose fragrance.

The Chinese Xinjiang Uygur people use rose damas widely in their daily lives. It is made into different kinds of cakes, and top-grade rose perfumes are extracted from the rose damas. One of the other common uses is to brew as tea. It is easy, healthy and delicious!

In Chinese medicine, rose tea is known for the following health benefits:

  • Cooling down the body heat
  • Nourishing and beautifying the body
  • Regulating blood flow
  • Anti-fatigue and enhances wound healing
  • Relaxes nerves
  • Anti-depressant
